Emerald Glamping: What's it all about?

Emerald Glamping: An introduction.

Some people do wonder where they are going as they head further down the canal-line toward Emerald Glamping.

The camp is just 5 minutes from Daingean village, and around 20 minutes from the towns of Mullingar, Tullamore, and Edenderry but it feels a lot more isolated.

The Grand Canal, that great snake of water that sneaks from Dublin to the Shannon, is a great protector of flora and fauna with unkempt strips of foliage, brush and trees running in parallel with the canal itself, so some do feel like they are driving into the unknown.

The road to Emerald Glamping.

All apprehension dissipates upon arrival as Glampers drive into the gravelled yard and realise they are in a Middle-Earthesque environment, now isolated from the seething masses, though only by a few fields'n'roads.

At Emerald Glamping you can relax in your chosen yurt with private furnished deck and idle the evening away with a nice bottle of whatever you fancy.

There is, also, the 60 foot long greenhouse. This wood-floored greenhouse is home to our pool table, sofas and armchairs. It is not unlike sunny Spain, the heat inside it, when the sun does shine.

If you are getting peckish then you may cook in the communal kitchen, or have a BBQ. We have several BBQ's and as many great places to sit and eat.

For entertainment or activities you can play a game of pool, go for a bike ride, a walk, or a paddle in a canoe; maybe all.

Family fun on the Grand Canal.

Then there is the campfire. The wonderful campfire. Nestled under a giant Ash tree is our ever-popular campfire. Once lit the campfire is a magnet for all and sundry to sit and chat, maybe have a singsong, and stare into the flames. There is always the chance of a dance as well.

Fun at the campfire.

Fancy a hot shower? With a sky view? We have this also. On a moonlit night the showers are fantastic. Hot steaming showers in the moonlight.

With well formed gravel paths and wooden boardwalks linking everything together getting around Emerald Glamping is a breeze.
